20210828_1704 - I almost bought myself a MacBook Air M1 == * Note created: [time=Saturday, 28 August 2021 17:04:09 +0700] * ###### tags `sTREaming` ---- I almost dropped Rp38mio yday, just like that, for an all spec-ed up macbook air M1 (16GB RAM, 2TB SSD). then I read a single comment about how all the extra storage is not really worth the price difference, that smacked some sense into me. then went to compare and check closer. OK, the 16GB RAM, 256GB SSD version "only" costs around Rp22mio. and realised yeah the storage spec-up was silly. with 10mio (~USD700) I could get 10TB worth of external storage or something ?? even... a motorcycle. or a nice trike. or an iphone, or ipod touch or, LOTs of books. or a one way ticket to NZ? nah, too expensive. heck, a month of comfortable life in Bali lol. what WAS I thinking? then I almost pulled the trigger on the cheaper, more rational option. found one seller selling it for 19mio++, there's even 500k cashback. seems like such a good deal. I do have good reasons: I know I will eventually end up with a macbook air, due to the weight advantage, for travelling lightly. all the extra RAM would be nice too. and the battery. and having two machines.... not sure if I need it tbh. but heck, I'll be able to run the docker stuff on this 2014 MBP. it'd just be nice to get a fresh machine, yknow but... the biggest problem I feel with this is that: IT DIDN'T even cross my mind up till 10 minutes ago!! **who goes shopping for a laptop out of the blue?** this is 98% boredom. I'm not operating at a normal sanity level.
